Distance Learning Activities for Speech Therapy of Apraxia of Speech

If you are an SLP looking for some fresh, original, and exciting therapy materials for your teletherapy with Apraxia of Speech - look no further!

I have compiled my favourite books, games, and activities that you can use during your distance learning therapy sessions.

OH NO! IT'S A BOO-BOO!

This story was written with little ones with CAS in mind. Oh No! It's a Boo Boo is filled with early word shapes and functional words. On each page, your students can ‘fix’ the boo boo by placing a band-aid on it. Your students will love the interactive nature of this story. (Prefer a digital version? No problem! It is also available as a BOOM card!)

I WANNA BONE!

Children with CAS often have difficulty with bilabial sounds (e.g. p b m w). I wanna Bone! is filled with early developing word shapes and bilabials. On each page, your students can ‘feed’ the puppy a bone. Your students will love the ‘hands-on’ nature of this story. (Prefer a digital version? No problem! It is also available as a BOOM card!)

MY PLAYHOME APP:

This app is one of my favourites because it has a lot of opportunities to practice functional words that occur in the child’s life everyday! Mama, dada, up, down, dog, in, out, house, eat are just a few ideas! Check it out here!

BUTTERFLY, BUTTERFLY!

WHERE DO YOU FLY!?

Your students will enjoy Butterfly, Butterfly! Where do you fly?! This story is FULL of three sylalble words and a rhyming text. The repetitive nature allows your students to have plenty of opportunities to practice their target words. You students will enjoy completing the story on each page with the moveable butterflies. (Prefer a digital version? No problem! It is also available as a BOOM card!)

EARLY WORD SHAPE PLAY SCENES:

PLAY with your students over the screen! Each of the 34 Interactive Picture Scenes for Speech Therapy are filled with opportunities to practice a target word in a natural and fun way! These are also a great alternative for in-person sessions when you don’t want to prep (or clean toys!). Each scene features a sound effect to keep your kiddos even more engaged!

LITTLE BEE, DON’T STING ME!

Your students will enjoy Little Bee! Don't Sting me! They will love the anticipation of flying the bees around the page so that the characters don’t get stung! On each page, the little bee stings a different body part. Your students will have so much fun with this repetitive story that is filled with early word shapes. (Prefer a digital version? No problem! It is also available as a BOOM card!)

IS THAT YOUR POO?

This FREE repetitive story, Is that your Poo?, is silly and playful (and designed to be jammed with early word shapes). Your students will love helping the little blue bird meet new friends and finding the mystery pooper! (Prefer a digital version? No problem! It is also available as a BOOM card!)

DR. PANDA RESTAURANT

This app is perfect to get a lot of trials because they play is very repetitive. Your students can make the food and then have the characters eat the food. Words like want, eat, more, and make will occur naturally throughout this activity. Get a closer look here.

YOUTUBE BOOKS:

It is so easy to find stories on Youtube! Find stories that have repetitive text and simply pause the video when you want your child to complete the sentence! For a list of repetitive stories, check out this blog post!
